Obituary for Yrene (Irene) Martinez
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Yrene (Irene) Martinez, who went to be with the Lord on October 4, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on March 30, 1944, in Colorado City, Texas, to Eusebia and Jose Ornelas.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a rosary starting at 6:00 PM, at Miller Family Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with Father Albert Joseph Devanesan officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Snyder, Texas.
Yrene was a loving, caring, and selfless woman who touched the lives of all who knew her. She was happiest when surrounded by family and took great pride in cooking her famous recipes for holidays and special occasions. Yrene devoted much of her time to helping others and serving her parish, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, church member, and friend.
She is survived by her six children:Johnny Ray Martinez Sr. (Anita) of Fluvanna, TX, Debra Ortegon (Ismael) of Abilene, TX, David Martinez of Snyder, TX, Rudy Martinez and (Connie)of Snyder, TX, Larry Joe Martinez Sr. of Snyder, TX, Cindy Sanchez (Andrew) of Snyder, TX, She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren: Melissa Martinez-Guedry (Dustin), Johnny Ray Jr. Martinez (Jessica), Chris Ortegon (Laura), Veronica Buenrrostro (Frank), Ismael Jr. Ortegon (Amy), Rudy Martinez Jr., Michael Martinez, Ryanna Martinez (Lindsey Jameson), Larry Joe Martinez Jr., Mallory Vasquez and (J.J. Vasquez) Andrew Carrillo (Lexi Snider), Vanessa Martinez, Gabriella Sanchez, JuanDiego Sanchez, and Lilliana Sanchez; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as two sisters and four brothers.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Juan V. Martinez; her parents, Eusebia and Jose Ornelas Sr.; her granddaughter, Alexis Ortegon; and her brothers David, Ramon, and Estevan Ornelas.
Yrene will be greatly missed and forever remembered for her kindness, generosity, and devotion to her family and faith.
