Roy Jay Rosson Obituary

Roy Rosson, 74, of Snyder, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026,

at his home surrounded by family. A visitation will be held at Miller Family Funeral Home

on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at

10:00 am on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Hillside Memorial Gardens with Scott Squiers

and Justin Rosson officiating.

Roy was born October 14, 1951, in Sweetwater, Texas, to the late R.J. Rosson and

Dorothy (Christ) Rosson. He was a long-time resident of Snyder and a 1970 graduate of

Snyder High School. After high school, Roy attended Angelo State University where he

earned a bachelor's degree in education and began his career as a classroom teacher.

He also decided to pursue his Masters of Education from Sul Ross University. After

graduating with his master's degree, Roy chose to attend Sunset Church of Christ

School of Preaching in Lubbock, Texas and graduated in 1987. He returned to Snyder

and served as the Bible Chair Director at Western Texas College for the Christian

Student Center as well as the associate minister for 37 th Street Church of Christ. Roy

returned to the classroom as a teacher and then administrator at Snyder Junior High.

After several years with Snyder ISD, Roy was then hired as an instructor at the

Windham School District until he retired from education in 2005.

Roy was committed to studying, teaching, and preaching the Word. He focused his

ministry working with Dunn Church of Christ in Dunn, Texas, for almost 40 years as well

as serving at youth camps in any capacity needed. For the last 8 years, he has also had

the privilege of working with the Iglesia de Cristo congregation in Snyder where he

taught bible classes. Roy was always ready and eager to have a conversation and

share the Word of God. His favorite sayings were: "Start with Jesus. End with Jesus.",

"Start with the Word. End with the Word.", "Fix your eyes on Jesus.".


He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Susan (Brown) Rosson; one daughter, Monica

Squiers and her husband, Scott; one son, Justin Rosson and his wife, Meagan;

grandson, Colton Squiers and his wife, Lillian; granddaughter, Anna Rosson; grandson,

Daniel Rosson. Also surviving are three brothers: Robert Rosson (Becky), John Rosson

(Delores) and Jim Rosson and two sisters: Patsy Scrabat and Dotsy Wright (Bill) as well

as numerous nieces and nephews. Surviving in-laws include Leslie Brown and Amy

Hardy (Buddy).

He was preceded in death by his parents, R.J. and Dorothy Rosson; infant son, Ryan

Jason Rosson; his sister, Lynda Neel and her husband, David; his sister-in-law, Melissa

Rosson and brother-in-law, Nick Scrabat; his nephews, J.D. Rosson and R.D. Rosson.

Also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leslie F. and Selma

Brown; sister-in-law, JoAnn Brown and sister-in-law, Linda Boney and her husband, J.T.
