Richard Wayne Logston

November 30, 1952 — June 7, 2025

Richard Wayne Logston, 72 of Snyder, Tx went home to be with the Lord on June 7, 2025.

Richard was born in Gainesville, Tx. to Lena and Neville Logston. He grew up in Texas picking on his two sisters Judy and Brenda. He spent his teenage years in Odessa, Tx where he met and married his wife Renee in August of 1970. In 1971, they started a family and moved to Snyder where they have lived ever since.

Richard worked for various oilfield companies throughout his career. He was a dedicated oilfield worker known for his technical abilities and ingenuity. He was hardworking, reliable and full of common sense. If something was broken, he could fix it. This ingenuity crossed over into home life. He was always building, repairing and "tinkering" with something. It might be pouring cement, fixing a car, putting on a new roof, or being creative by building his own welder or repairing his daughter's backpack with a giant bolt. He was very well known within his circle of family and friends for his "southern engineering."

Richard was a man of few words, but those spoken would be meaningful, and have purpose. Some saw Richard as a serious fellow, but those who knew him well knew otherwise. He was not always chatty, but he had quite the sense of humor. He loved a good practical joke. He would often play harmless pranks on the next unsuspecting victim; from dead snakes under the car seat, and sardines in the air vent, to a bottle of water rubbed into a chair cushion, and always done with a straight face. His hand grip was so strong that it sent others scooting around him to avoid getting pinched for fun.

Richard loved music. He taught himself how to play the guitar and often sat strumming and singing a tune. He would play for his family and sometimes at church. Many times he would change the lyrics to the songs and make them his own, often to make his kids and grandkids laugh. He liked listening to "the oldies" as he would call them, and could tell you the names of artists and songs you have never heard of. He would make up crazy dances for his family that no one else would ever get to see.

Richard never met an animal that he didn't like. He often said "I prefer animals over people", which made us laugh. He loved his pets; both dogs and cats.

They were spoiled. He enjoyed watching and sharing funny animal videos, especially monkeys and gorillas. If we got a video from him, you could guarantee it was a monkey that was up to no good.

Richard was a good man who provided for and loved his family. He loved the Lord and did his best to lead by His example. He served as a deacon and trustee at Faith Baptist church throughout his adult life. He loved his friends and church family. He was a sincere person and one you could count on. He will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish memories of Richard are his wife of 55 years, Renee Logston; daughters: Stacey Meek (Mike Meek) and Tammy Winter (Chris Winter); son: Justin Logston; grandchildren: Sarah Redding (Stuart Redding), Josh Meek, Nicole Garcia (Lucas Garcia), Avery Winter, Easton Winter; great grandchildren: Emma, James and John Redding, Ellie Garcia; sister: Brenda Taylor and a host of other relatives and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Neville Logston; his mother, Lena Elkins; sister, Judy Logston
