Refugio's legacy is carried on by the love of his life, Juanita Franco, with whom he shared a love that was the bedrock of their family. Together, they raised sons Ray and Louis Franco, and daughters Debora Rangel-Franco, Veronica Franco and Cecilia Chavez. His life was further blessed with the joy of 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Refugio's journey was marked by both joy and sorrow, with the loss 2 of his daughters Barbara Ann Franco in 1962 and 2025.
Refugio's Catholic faith was the cornerstone of his existence, guiding his way in every action and was the source of his unwavering kindness. His religion was not just a belief system; it was the very essence of his being, the compass that directed his path of love, faith, and strength.
With a voice that could touch hearts, Refugio's love for singing and playing his guitar was a source of joy for all who knew him. He found solace in the embrace of nature and outdoors, where he could often be found basking in the serene company of the earth's beauty. His love for sports could be heard when he cheered on his favorite team, like the Dallas Cowboys. His passion for life mirrored in the time he spent with his loved ones-every moment a cherished memory, every laugh a note in the symphony of his life.
Refugio "Cuco" Franco was the embodiment of compassion, kindness, and selflessness. These words are not merely adjectives but are the pillars of a life well-lived. They are the echoes of his actions, the whispers of his deeds, and the legacy he leaves behind. He will be greatly missed and admired for his kind soul and loving heart that shall never be forgotten.
As we reflect on Refugio's life, let us not dwell on the silence of his absence but rather on the melody of his existence that continues to resonate within us. Let us carry forward the torch of his spirit, illuminating the path for others as he did for so many. Refugio "Cuco" Franco's life was a masterclass in humanity, and it is up to us to keep his teachings alive, to spread the warmth of his love, and to live with the grace of his kindness.
