Peggy Joyce Appleton

Peggy Joyce Appleton, 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2026. She was born on June 22, 1930, in Merkel, Texas, to Samuel D. Springfield and Annie May Baker.

Visitation is set for Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Miller Family Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services are set for Monday, April 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Buffalo Gap Cemetery in Buffalo Gap, Texas, with brother Brandon Hagins officiating.

Peggy was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, and a cherished friend to many. After graduating high school, she met the love of her life while dancing at the VFW. She later married B.D. "Billy" Darius Appleton on May 6, 1950, in Abilene, Texas.

Peggy found great joy in caring for others, especially through her cooking, which she did with love and pride. She enjoyed watching her favorite classic game shows and keeping up with the nightly news. Above all, she treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many family members and friends she held dear.

She especially loved dancing alongside her beloved husband, creating memories that lasted a lifetime. At 95 years old, Peggy never drove a day in her life.

She is survived by one son, Sammy (Dee) Appleton, 2 daughters, Connie (Vick) Miller, and Rita (Kerry) Hagins. 16 grandchildren Benny (Tammy) Miller, Kenny Miller and Jennifer Campbell, Matthew (Rebekah) Miller, Brandi Wolf, Jared Hagins, Brandon (Heather) Hagins, Travis Hagins, Colby (Karlee) Appleton, Ricia and (Marcial) Perez, and Tara (Reese) Grimmett. 11 Great Grandchildren Kelsey (Jason) Durham, Courtney (Brock) Erculiani, Tanner (Hope) Miller, Meagan Miller, McClendon Miller, Kendal Miller, Raegan Wolf, Ryan Wells, Mackenzie Wells, Hannah Robertson (Kaebren Hill), Reid Campbell, & Kolbie Campbell. Several Great great-grandchildren: Nolan, Miller, Bodyn, Barrett, Lillian, Jaden, Rantley, Braiden, Addison, & Reeslyn. Also survived by sister, Anita Wilson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband B.D. Billy Darius Appleton, her parents, Samuel D. Springfield and Annie May Baker, 2 sisters, Betty Doby and Patsy Manlief. Grandson, Rody Appleton, and Brother-in-law, Bill Willson.

Peggy will be missed by so many friends and family.

The family has asked that memorial donations be made to Anchor of Love Hospice in Snyder, Texas.
