Matthew Jerrod Lowry

Matt Lowry, age 44, met his Savior face to face on Tuesday, December 17 th , 2024.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 21 st , 2024 at 10:00 am at

Calvary Baptist Church – 2405 35 th Street Snyder, TX 79549 with Rev. Joel Byers of

Central Baptist in Tyler officiating and Rev. Steve Highfield of Calvary Baptist assisting.

Matthew Jerrod Lowry was born on May 23 rd , 1980 in Sherman, Texas to Charlie Lowry

and Pat (Cain) Lowry Jennings. He married his high school sweetheart Carrie Pruitt on

January 2, 1999 in Sherman, TX.

Matt gave his life to Jesus at the age of 7 and in high school felt God’s calling into the

Ministry. While Matt began to lead worship at the age of 16, he knew God had a great

plan for him. Matt and Carrie both attended Baptist Bible College, now Mission

University in Springfield, MO. He served as Youth Pastor at Calvary Baptist for 5 years

before the Lord called him to Pastor in Oklahoma. Matt was brought back to Calvary to

be the Associate Pastor, and the church voted for Matt to become the Co-Pastor. In

November of 2017 Matt became the Senior Pastor where he served faithfully and stood

side by side all of the members treating each one like his own family. In total, Matt

served the Lord faithfully for over 24 years.

Matt served on the board of Trustees for Mission University in Springfield, MO, he

served on the Texas BBFI Board, and the BBFI Missions Board. He was the Vice

President of the Snyder Education Foundation Board, he served on the board for

Snyder Christian School. He was a Lions Club member.

Matt loved his wife, Carrie, and two daughters, Emily and Zalee. He enjoyed family trips

and all of the experiences those trips would bring. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing,

hunting, and telling dad jokes to anyone that would listen. He loved to laugh, and watch

his family growing in the Lord.

Matt is survived by wife, Carrie Lowry of Snyder, two daughters, Emily and Zalee of

Snyder; Mother, Pat Jennings and husband Gerald of Tyler, TX; Brother, Charles Lowry

and wife Karie of Snyder; Sister, Stacy Foreman and husband Donald Ray of Dallas,

TX; numerous nieces and nephews, and the church family.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Charlie Lowry and Grandmother, Sadie

Mc Neily.
