Mary Elvira Hess Ward passed away at the age of 87 on September 12, 2015 in her home. She was born on October 10, 1927 to David and Bernice Simmons Hess. She is survived by One brother Forest Hess and wife Norma of Roscoe, Texas; her children, Sandra McDorman and husband, Thomas; Leon Ward and wife, Rhonda; grandchildren Amy Miller, Mendy Peterson, and husband Brian, Heather Ward and husband, Romer, Josh Ward, and wife, Jessica; 5 great grandchildren. She also left nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Mary graduated from Pyron High School and joined the Cadet Nurse Corp in 1945; she graduated an RN in 1948. She married Hollis Ward in in 1949. Mary chose to work in doctor's offices and the State Department which allowed her to be home with her husband and family on nights, weekends, and holidays. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Ward, her parents, three brothers, John Wesley Parker, Orville Hess, and Dale Hess. Mary donated her body to Texas Tech Medical Center. She requested no funeral service. There will be a visitation for her family and friends from 6 O'Clock PM to 8 O'Clock PM Monday evening at Miller Familiy Funeral Home in Snyder, Texas.
