Larry Clayton Isbell

October 14, 1949 — January 16, 2016

Larry Clayton Isbell, age 66, passed away in Snyder on Saturday, January 16, 2016 after a long, valiant struggle with cancer. Larry was born in Haskell, Texas on October 14, 1949 to Billy & June (Gibbs) Isbell.

"Willy" grew up in Abilene and Anson. He graduated from Anson High School in 1968. There he played football, was an excellent history student, and had fun. He attended Cisco Jr. College where he studied computer programming.

Larry was saved at an early age, and recently renewed his faith. He enjoyed his '66 GTO, old movies, and could turn any even into an adventure, especially in the telling of it. Larry had a passion for trains, flying his kites, and scuba diving in various parts of the world.

Larry was always working. He built fence and baled hay for his grandfathers and was going to the rig with his dad by his tenth birthday. Larry spent most of his adult life working for Parker Drilling Company in Asia. He thought the oilfield was the best job on earth. Beginning at the age of four, when Larry ran away from home, he enjoyed a life of travel and adventure.

Surviving Larry is his mother, June Isbell McIlwain; his sister Janice and her husband, Max Blackwell; Larry's surviving children- Lari, Seri, and Roe; one stepdaughter- Stephanie and her husband Collin; three grandchildren and two step-grandsons. Others surviving are three nieces, April, June, and January and nephew Max Allen. Larry's surviving aunts are Mary Ann McIlwain and Jo Beth Liner.
