James Dennis, 65, of Brownwood, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025. He was born on January 25, 1960, in Snyder, Texas, to Foy and Carolyn Dennis.
James lived a life marked by determination, character, and an entrepreneurial spirit. After earning his bachelor’s degree in Social Studies and Sociology from Texas Tech University, he built a diverse career as a salesman and business owner. Always on the lookout for the next great opportunity, James had a keen instinct for negotiation and a passion for enterprise. Over the years, he owned and operated several businesses, including Dennis Motors, Sound Concept, and Texas Ram Transportation. He also gave back to his community by serving as a substitute teacher, positively influencing many young lives.
Outside of work, James was known for his love of fast cars, motorcycles, and classic rock. His adventurous spirit and zest for life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
James is survived by his mother, Carolyn Dennis; his former wife, Sibrina Dennis; his son, Ryan Dennis and wife Anna; his grandchildren, Ava and Huntley Dennis, and Jake and Addy Cleveland; and his siblings, Danny Dennis and Cici Alonzo. He was preceded in death by his father, Foy Dennis; his daughter, Lucy Dennis; and his brother, Mike Dennis.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Miller Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place at Miller Family Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 23, at 2:00 p.m., followed by burial at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Snyder, Texas. A meal will be served afterward at 5:00 p.m. at Avenue D Baptist Church in Snyder.
James will be remembered for his tireless work ethic, his larger-than-life personality, and, above all, his deep love for his family.
