DeVelva Sorrells, 68, of Snyder, Texas, passed away on November 3, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on July 22, 1957. DeVelva was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She touched many lives with her kindness, creativity, and warm spirit.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 7, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Miller Family Funeral Home in Snyder, Texas. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Miller Family Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Lowry officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Snyder, Texas.
DeVelva was a member of Avenue D Baptist Church and spent many years in the field of cosmetology. She had a gift for helping others feel confident and beautiful, and her gentle heart made her a comfort to many. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, crafts, traveling, thrifting, antiquing, swimming, and making desserts. More than anything, she treasured time spent with her family - they were her greatest joy.
She is survived by her husband, Ricky Sorrells of Snyder, TX; her children Angel Southern of Lubbock, TX; Ricky Southern of Durango, CO; and Lorraine Pierson of Lubbock, TX; her stepson Jonathan (Jennifer) Sorrells of Deer Park, TX; stepson Nathan (Brandy) Sorrells of Hermleigh, TX; She is also survived by her grandchildren Sierra Southern of Lubbock, TX; Sadie Pierson of Lubbock, TX; Savanna Pierson of Lubbock, TX; Chris Southern of Grand Junction, CO; Tanner Miller of Snyder, TX; Julianna Sorrells of Deer Park, TX; Dylan Sorrells of Hermleigh, TX; Cayden Sorrells of Hermleigh, TX; Peyton Sorrells of Hermleigh, TX; Brecklyn Sorrells of Hermleigh, TX; Vanessa Morrison of Cameron, NC; and great-grandchildren Zaida Garcia of Lubbock, TX; Olivia Mae Morrison of Cameron, NC; Leila Bella Morrison of Cameron, NC; of Isabella Grace Morrison of Cameron, NC; and Liam Miller of Snyder, TX
DeVelva was preceded in death by her father, Junior Lorraine Babcock, and her mother, Ardele Woolever.
DeVelva will be remembered for her laughter, her creativity, her sweetness, and the deep love she gave so freely. Her presence will be deeply missed, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
