Charles Edward Green "Poppa Boone"

Charles Edward Green, affectionately known to all as “Poppa Boone,” of Colorado City, TX passed away on August 25, 2025, at the age of 74.
He was born on March 18, 1951, to the late Geneva Mayes and Scotty Boone Jr.
Services set for Saturday September 6th,2025 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Colorado City, Texas. Interment will follow at Mitchell County Cemetery.
Poppa Boone was a man who dedicated his life to helping in the community, selling his antiques/salvage, raising his chickens, his dogs, doting over his family and tending his land.
More than his work, he will be remembered for his generous heart and willingness to help anyone in need, storytelling on the front porch, and his legendary sense of humor that could light up any room. His greatest joy and proudest accomplishment were his family. The title of "Poppa Boone" was the one he cherished most.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his children: Drex Walthall (Angie), Derrick Boone (Myra), Eric Boone and wife Veronica, all of Colorado City, TX; and two daughters, Bonnie Lane and husband Rodney, and Maria Walthall, both of Colorado City, TX. He is also survived by his siblings: Scott Boone III; Patrick Boone (Courtney); Connie Armstrong (Lahcen); Ronnie Boone; Doris Boone-Knight; Minister Vonda Boone; Donald Boone; Cynthia Boone-Klein; all of DFW metroplex John Jackson and wife Elizabeth, James Lee Mayes Green; Willie T. Mayes; Larry Mayes; Barbara Monroe and husband Tommy; Jonell Mayes and husband Larry; Charlene McAdams and husband Mark; Linda Faye Fitzpatrick; and Kathy Green Doris Fay Green Beverly Wright, all of Colorado City, TX; ; Doris Mae Wiley (JB) all of Odessa/ Midland, TX; Juanita Johnson and husband Henry of Odessa, TX. In addition, he leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Scotty Boone Jr. and Geneva Mayes; his sisters, Mary Helen Mayes, Linda Mae Combs, and Mary Ellen Mayes, Catherine Boone-Shorter; his brother, Louis Green; his beloved wife, Ella Walthall-Green; his grandson, Raekwon Boone; and two granddaughters, Asia and India Lane.
A service to celebrate Poppa Boone’s life will be held on Saturday September 6th at 2 pm at First Baptist Church.
