Charles Edwin Doty

December 19, 1942 — March 2, 2026

Charles Edwin Doty of Snyder, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 2, 2026. He was born on December 19, 1942, in Stephenville, Texas, to his loving parents, Robert and Francis Doty.

Services for Mr. Doty will be on Friday, March 6th, at 10 AM at Roby Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 5th, from 6-8 PM at Miller Family Funeral Home in Snyder, Texas.

As the eldest of five children, Charles was a devoted son and protective older brother to his four siblings. While attending Roby High School, he met the love of his life, Judy Mash. The two were married in June of 1962. They began their life together in Rotan before eventually returning to Roby, where they would put down deep roots. Charles and Judy were blessed with three beloved children-Darrel, Derrick, and Julie-whom they raised in Roby. During their daughter's high school years, the family moved to Snyder, where they built a beautiful home surrounded by vibrant flower beds and fruit trees for all to enjoy. Throughout his life, Charles held many professions, including working as a mechanic at Armstrong Implement in Roby and at the United States Gypsum mill in Sweetwater. He later found his true calling with the Snyder Public School District, where he faithfully served as both a bus driver and mechanic. Charles and Judy were both faithful and active members of Union Baptist Church, where they served the Lord and church family with dedication. In recognition of his steadfast faith and servant's heart, he was later ordained as a deacon, a role he carried with humility and devotion.

As the years passed, the home that once echoed with the busy days of raising children became a gathering place filled with the laughter of grandchildren. Charles and Judy wholeheartedly embraced what they considered their greatest and most treasured role-being MeMa and Pa. A man of many talents, Charles found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of hunting and spending time in his workshop. There, he poured his creativity and love into handcrafted treasures, from intricately carved trucks and cars to wooden rocking horses made especially for his cherished grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Doty, his son, Derrick Doty, his parents Robert and Francis Doty, sisters Alma Ogden and Betty Viola Milligan, and many other aunts, uncles, and loved ones.

Charles leaves behind a legacy of love in his children, Darrel (Cathy) Doty of Caddo, Texas; their children, Bryce Doty of Ballinger, Texas, and Dance (Courtney) Doty of Abilene, Texas, and their son, Stetson. He is also survived by his daughter, Julie (Michael) Munoz of Denver City, Texas; their children, Zachary (Amanda) Munoz of Sundown, Texas, and their children, Kamdyn and Tyler; Symphony (Ryan) Bennett of Aubrey, Texas; and Dobson Munoz of Denver City, Texas. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Mark (Terry) Doty of Snyder, Texas; Clinton (Katy) Doty of Snyder, Texas; Barbara Justice of Roby, Texas; Eloise (Don) Grubbs of Sweetwater, Texas; Cinda Huffman of Sweetwater, Texas; and Jerry Mash of Abilene, Texas.
