Charles Derrick Doty

June 6, 1966 — February 27, 2026

Charles Derrick "Bubba" Doty, of San Marcos, Texas, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by his family. Derrick was born on June 6, 1966, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Charles and Judy Doty.

Services for Mr. Doty will be on Friday, March 6th, at 10 AM at Roby Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 5th, from 6-8 PM at Miller Family Funeral Home in Snyder, Texas.

He spent many cherished years running around the farm and working with his brother Darrell and their late Grandpa Mash. When he wasn't hard at work or delighting in teasing his little sister, Julie, with his latest playful prank, he could most often be found casting a line at his favorite fishing spot or riding horses, embracing the outdoors he loved so much.

He attended Roby High School where he played football and participated in the high school band before he graduated in 1984. After high school, he spent many years as a tradesman always finding a way to lend a hand to all those around him. Derrick's greatest love was picking a guitar and writing music, and he loved to share his talent with all his family and friends. In 2009, he started working at 6B Plumbing. Dearly loved, Derrick was remembered by his friends and coworkers as a compassionate and loving man, someone who was always ready to share a laugh and who embraced a simple, meaningful life. This truth shone brightly in 2019 when he met the love of his life, Rocio and her two boys Diego and David. Together, they built a loving home and a beautiful life in San Marcos, Texas, filled with joy, devotion, and cherished memories.

Derrick was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Doty, his maternal grandmother and grandfather Jack and Stella Mash, and Aunt Helen Mitchell, paternal grandmother and grandfather Robert and Francis Doty, Aunt Alma Ogden, and Aunt Billy Doty, and Aunt Betty Viola Mulligen.

He will be forever treasured by his sweetheart Rocio Manzano of San Marcus, and two children Diego Miguel Manzano and David Eduardo Moctezuma also of San Marcus, his brother Darrell (Cathy) Doty of Caddo, their children Bryce Doty of Ballinger, Dance (Courtney) and son Stetson of Abilene, younger sister Julie (Michael) Munoz of Denver City, their children Zachary (Amanda) and children Kamdyn & Tyler of Sundown, Symphony (Ryan) Bennett of Aubrey and Dobson Munoz of Denver City. He will also be remembered by his aunts and uncles Mark (Terry) Doty of Snyder, Clinton (Katy) Doty of Snyder, Barbara Justice of Roby, Eloise (Don) Grubbs of Sweetwater, Cinda Huffman of Sweetwater, and Jerry Mash of Abilene.
