Benito Ortegon

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of beloved Benito Ortegon, who left us on February 28, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on June 10, 1933, in Brady, TX. 

Services for Mr. Benito Ortegon will be held on Tuesday, March 10th, at 10 AM at Miller Family Funeral Home with Charles Lowery officiating. Burial will follow at Snyder Cemetery in Snyder, TX. Visitation will be on Monday, March 9th, from 5-7 PM at Miller Family Funeral Home.

As a proud member of the Ave D Baptist Church, Benito dedicated his life to his faith and community. He was a deacon and truly embodied the spirit of service, often lending his time and energy to the Meals on Wheels program, ensuring that everyone felt cared for and nourished. He always believed in the importance of helping others and made a lasting impact on those around him. Benito was also a passionate carpenter, finding joy in crafting and creating with his hands. Whether he was building furniture or fixing up a neighbor's home, his talent and dedication were evident in everything he touched.

He is survived by his two loving daughters, Guadalupe Arispe Ortegon Vazquez and her husband, and Rosario Ortegon Hegedus and her husband; his beloved sister, Ovala Chapman; five grandchildren; and seven (or more) great-grandchildren. Together, they remember him not only for the love he gave, but for the laughter and wisdom he so generously shared.

Benito was preceded in death by his father, Frank Ortegon Sr.; his mother, Celia Gauna Ortegon; his brothers, Frank Ortegon Jr., Andrew Ortegon, Fred Ortegon Sr., Anselmo Ortegon, and Ernesto Ortegon; his sister, Beatriz Ortegon Arispe; and two grandchildren.
