Albert Brown, 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026. Albert was born June 28, 1944, to his loving parents, Bill and Georgia Brown, in Casa Grande, Arizona.
Services for Mr. Brown will be on Friday, April 3rd, at 10 AM at Jayton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 2nd, from 6-7 PM at Miller Family Funeral Home in Snyder, Texas.
Albert was a man of many talents and passions, never one to sit still for long. From working cattle, playing golf, and riding motorcycles in his younger years to socializing his way around Jayton in his 1992 faded red golf cart, he had a knack for turning ordinary days into memorable ones.
He loved his work and retired from three careers, including logging over two million accident-free miles as a truck driver, maintaining Kent County roads, and operating heavy equipment in oil fields and on ranches. No matter the job, he gave it his full effort and likely had a story (or strong opinion) to go along with it.
He also served as Mayor of Jayton for eight years, an avid sports fan for both Jayton and Hermleigh, and the best mower you would ever meet. He also never met a referee or umpire who could make quite the right call or a blade of grass too short to mow.
He lived life out loud, never met a stranger, and rarely let a day pass without sharing a joke or story that left others laughing. He will be remembered as the best Husband, Dad, Poppie, Bubba, and friend-a man whose presence was as constant and familiar as the red golf cart making its rounds.
Albert is survived by his loving wife, Jean Brown; his daughters, Bobbie Brown, Rebecca Brown, and Rachel Hoover; his son-in-law, Jake Hoover; his cherished grandchildren, Justine Latham, Judd Latham, Linus Hoover, Emori Hoover, and Braidyn Lynch; his great-grandchildren, Carter Latham and Camila Parrish; his brother, Benny Brown; and his sister, Susan Lal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Georgia Brown, and his brother, Ronny Brown. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked to donate to Jayton-Girard ISD and Hermleigh Athletic Booster Club.
