“Paul” Zapata Martinez, 71 of Lubbock, passed away Saturday, December 3rd, 2022, late in the evening. His family and friends knew him simply as, Paul or Popo.

There will be fellowship and a viewing on Friday, December 9th, 2022 at Miller Funeral Home Chapel. 200 E. 37th Street, in Snyder, Texas from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction and care of Miller Family Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be conducted on Saturday, December 10th, 2022 at the First Assembly of God, 1809 College Ave. Snyder, Texas at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mandy Pena, bringing a comforting word.

Paul was born to Mateo and Angelita (Zapata) Martinez on June 30th, 1951 in Slaton, Texas. Paul brought a smile to others with his caring heart and warm grin. Others benefited from his presence – he never met a stranger. Listening to music, fishing, grilling, carpentry projects, enjoying old cowboy westerns, and hanging with his friends and family were of high priority in Paul’s 71 years. Paul worked with Burnett Safety Services and other oil field services throughout his life. Paul was hardworking and loved his family more than life itself. All in all, Paul just wanted to help others and love his family members. He knew who and what he believed in – He now rests in heaven.

Paul leaves behind 3 Sons, Paulie Martinez, mothers of his children, Tasha Garcia and Billie Bennett, Ruben Martinez, Joseph Martinez and wife Leticia Martinez; 3 Daughters, Daisy Bailey and husband Jeremy Bailey, Wanda Martinez and Lisa Martinez, all of Snyder, Texas; twenty-six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren and an extensive family of 7 brothers and 6 sisters.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and a sister.
