Obituary for Maria Guerrero Gonzalez
Our beloved matriarch Mrs. Maria Guerrero González, age 73, of Snyder, Texas went home to join the Lord on Sunday October 4, 2020, surrounded by the presence of her loving family.
Maria was born on October 31, 1946 in Tecoman Colima, Mexico to Prudenciano Guerrero and Rafaela Ramirez. As a young girl in Mexico, Maria attended the Academia Comercial Valencia and received her certificate as a secretary of Stenography. Moving into her adulthood she married Mr. Pedro González on April 29, 1972 in Colima, Colima.
Maria was a lifelong active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Faithful servant of God, wife, mother, grandmother and loving friend to all. A devout Roman Catholic, she was a Guadalupana serving as president for many years where she provided leadership in social concerns and performed numerous works of charity. She is known for her natural cooking talent which she enjoyed sharing in support of church functions and celebrations. Maria was a Cursillista who loved to give, “Rollos”, talks that help people get closer to God and their faith. Maria was also a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus where she assisted the Knights of Columbus in raising funds for the Church as well as for deserving charities. At Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister and a lector. During her ministry she reached out and touched the hearts of many people within the Diocese of Lubbock, TX.
Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Prudenciano Guerrero and Rafaela. Her six (6) brothers Miguel, Marcelino, Leopoldo, Lorenzo, Agipito, Tobias and four (4) sisters Elena, Eloisa, Josephina, Mercedes.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 48 years, Pedro González of Snyder, TX, her son Pedro González Jr., daughter-in-law Jessica and granddaughter Naudia of Snyder, TX, her son David González, daughter-in-law Karyn, grandson Tristan and granddaughter Isabella of Arlington, TX , her daughter Elizabeth González and granddaughters Trinity and Hailey of Snyder, TX, her son Jesus González, daughter-in-law Kara and granddaughter Emilee of Frisco, TX, her son Jose González and daughter-in-law Bianca of Snyder, TX, her daughter Guadalupe Chavez, son-in-law Beto and grandsons Christian, Carlos, and Cezar of Snyder, TX, her daughter Angelica Jackson, son-in-law Waylon, grandson Gabriel and granddaughter Airika of Snyder, TX, and her daughter Veronica Smith, son-in-law Justin, granddaughter Sierra and grandson Nathan of Snyder, TX, her brothers Jose Guerrero of Snyder, TX and Bartolo Guerrero of Moxee, Washington.She was the proud grandmother of thirteen grandchildren.
Mom enjoyed cooking, supporting her grandchildren’s activities and spending time with her friends. She enjoyed singing and sang in the Church choir and loved to perform mariachi songs during Cinco de Mayo and September 16, celebrations.
Visitation from 9 a.m. to 8p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Miller Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday October 7, 2020. Services for Maria will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Raj Arokiasamy officiating. Interment will follow at Snyder Cemetery in Snyder, Texas.
