Obituary for Lorene C. Freeman

Lorene C. Freeman, 95, died on July 31, 2021 at Silverleaf Eldercare in Austin, Texas. She was the widow of William Freeman. They shared 60 years of marriage together in Houston, Texas.

Born in Levelland, TX, she was the daughter of Willie Faye Helms and Joseph L. Clegg. She was a cosmetology school graduate who loved doing people’s hair and nails. She worked as a beautician until she was 75.

She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, and twice held the office of President for the club. She took art classes for many years and became an accomplished painter in oils and watercolor. She enjoyed crafting and created an abundance of seasonal decor for her home. She will be remembered for her energy, generosity, and creativity.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her son, Joe Dalton Cranfill; her daughter, Leta Faye Kavanaugh; and grandson, Fielden Joe Cranfill.

She is survived by her sister, Lena High; her two granddaughters, Kelli Lynn Brittain and Paula Michele Kavanaugh; and four great grandchildren: Dalton Cranfill, Zachary Dye, Anna Zekan, and Sara Brittain.

A graveside service will be held at Cottonwood Flat Cemetery of Scurry County on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 1:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or Alzheimer’s Association.
