She was the oldest child born to W. I. "Tex" Haltom Sr and Georgia Hollomon Haltom in Baytown, Texas. They instilled in her a love of family, hard work and anything horse related.

She married her high school sweetheart, best friend, and life-long partner Mike Lester Herrington and had three wonderful children, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was a fantastic teacher and taught in the public school system for over 30 years & then moved into teaching for the state judicial system until she retired. She taught in various school districts, teaching science and special education as well as GED classes and later as a diagnostistion in the Windham School for the Texas prison system. There is probably not a single student in all her years of teaching that would not sing Ms. H's praises. She was one of the best.

She was a proud Texas A &M Aggie being one of the first seven hundred women to graduate with a Bachelors and Masters degree, and one of the first women allowed on the Aggie rodeo team. Mom loved horses, rodeo, horse racing, and when her kids were growing-up she was a heck of a stock show mom. Mom was an avid reader and a faithful watcher of Jeopardy & Wheel of Fortune.

There isn't anything that Mom would not do for her family. Making sure we each felt special. She went to as many games, plays, rodeos, stock shows and recitals for all as she could. You knew she was out there cheering loud and proud.

Mom loved to sing & dance. Family gatherings always had music going where we all were dancing in the living room or wherever we could. She could two-step with the best of them.

Preceding her are her parents W. I. "Tex" and Georgia Haltom, her in-laws Bernard and Jewell Herrington, and a grandson Theo Porter.

Those left to grieve, cherish her memory, and pass on the love she gave with her whole heart: husband Mike Herrington, daughter Bonnie (Richard) Graham of Springdale, Ar, son Justin (Audra) Herrington of Ira, Tx, daughter Randi (Ty) Porter of Lubbock, Tx, grandchildren; Chase Graham, Colton Graham, Mayce Herrington, Parker Herrington, Christopher Porter, Garron Porter, Kiayah Porter, Taliah Porter, and Bayla Porter. Great grandchildren; Jillian Burton, Jackson & Genevieve Graham, Riley & Sonya Graham, and Ryver Herrington. Brother Weldon Haltom Jr., Sisters Alice (Mike) Jeffrey, Della Braden along with many nephews, nieces, cousins, & friends.

She was a strong, independent, hard-working, loving mom and Nana with a heart of gold and a faith in God that she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed & forever honored by the love & memories we all cherish.

The family request memorials be made to the St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or any cancer society you wish.
