Obituary for John Wesley Sanders III

John W. Sanders III entered the presence of the Lord on Thursday February 25, 2021 in Lubbock, Texas.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at Guajardo Funeral Chapel, 407 N. University Avenue in Lubbock from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at 1 p.m. at The First Baptist Church, 1008 8th Street in Shallowater, Texas with burial following in the Meadow Cemetery in Meadow, Texas. Services are under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home, Snyder, TX.

John was born on August 1, 1965 in Loraine, Texas. He attended school and graduated from Colorado City High School in 1983, before attending WTC in Snyder, where he received his degree in Electronics. He then attended TSTC in Sweetwater where he earned his degree in Robotics. He began his career at Texas Instruments in Lubbock in 1988. He worked there until 1996. During that time, in 1989 he married Kim, his sweetheart and the love of his life. John’s love for The Lord led he and Kim to Ft. Worth, Texas in 1996 where he attended Norris Bible Baptist Institute from 1996-1998. In 2000, John and Kim moved back to Lubbock where he began his career with X-Fab and remained there until his death. He loved his job and his co-workers and many of them became his lifelong friends. He became pastor at Community Baptist Church in Stiles, Texas in 2001, where he served until 2018. John devoted his life to being a husband, father, and a friend to many. He loved talking to his sons about old cars and trucks. He loved watching old sitcoms like Rockford Files and Emergency and listening to 70’s music. He loved spending time with his family. He will be remembered for leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. His memory will be cherished forever.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kim Sanders; his three sons, John W. Sanders IV and wife, Marisa, of Brownfield; Zy Thomas Sanders and Julian Michael Sanders, both of Shallowater, Texas. He is also survived by his mother, Wanda Jean Sanders; sister, Patricia Wells and husband, Brian; his mother and father-in-law, Jess and Belle Allen; sister-in-law, Linda Matthews and husband Jimmy; brothers-in-law, Johnny Allen and wife Corrine, Lonnie Allen and wife Carole; nieces and nephews, Kayla Steele and husband Orion, Keith Wells, Kelsie Wells, Michael Matthews and wife Natalie, Jill Fortenberry and husband Michael, Julie Matthews and fiancé Claudio Sosa, Brandon Allen and wife Brittany, Jennifer Furr and husband Ethan, Wade Allen and fiancé Shelby Barclay; great nieces and nephews, Ally and Macy Matthews, Jentry Fortenberry, Allison, Joshua and Brazos Sosa, Jaxton and Landry Allen, and Rylin and Whitley Furr and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, John W Sanders II; his grandparents, John W. and Patricia Sanders and Ira Julius and Clarice Ethel Butler and nephew, Joshua Shane Mitchell.
