Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 20th, 2021 at 10:00 am at Hillside Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dalton Mathis officiating and Trey Odom assisting. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home.
Danny was born at home to Albert Daniel and Ethel Mae Odom on February 17, 1946, in Post, Texas.
Danny graduated from Post High School in 1964. He was an outstanding athlete, president of his class, captain of the football and basketball teams and selected Mr. PHS his senior year. Danny married Barbara Britton on October 16, 1965 in Post, Texas. Together, they raised two sons, Todd, and Tracy.
In the years of 1965-1968, Danny served the United States Army in Vietnam and in Germany. After the Vietnam War, he returned to the U.S. to work in the oilfield. In 1973, Danny, Barbara and the boys moved to Snyder, Texas, where they made their home. As a longtime employee of Exxon Mobil, he worked his way up to senior production foreman. Danny earned the respect of his fellow workers because he never asked them to do a job he was not willing to do. After his retirement from the oilfield in 2001, Danny’s favorite pastime was working on computers and spending time with his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in their athletic endeavors from cheerleading and basketball, to baseball and football, and taekwondo.
In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by a sister, Delores.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Barbara Odom, two sons, Todd and wife Laurie of Snyder; Tracy and wife Amy of Lubbock; six grandchildren, Jessica McMullen and husband Colby, Kell Odom, Trey Odom, Jada Odom, Sam Odom and Jake Odom; two great granddaughters, Maren and Micah; two brothers, Dennis and wife Jane, and Darrell and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Ave D Baptist Church, Snyder, Texas, or a charity of your choice.
