Obituary for Belva Jo (Shipp) LaRoux

Beloved mother and grandmother, Belva Jo (Shipp) LaRoux, 73, passed from this life on Saturday, February 25, 2023. Belva was born October 18, 1949, in Snyder, Texas to Joseph Shipp, Jr. and Billie (Leatherwood) King. Her father passed away prior to her birth, and Belva was lovingly raised by her mother and her stepfather, Eddie King.

She earned her Master's Degree in Psychology Counseling, receiving her certification as an Alcohol Drug Counselor where she helped hundreds of men and women find hope and recovery. Belva loved the recovery community and brought to it a sense of compassion and grace for many years.

As much as she loved her clients and patients, she loved her family even more. Belva was a devoted daughter, an encouraging mother, and a doting grandmother. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her six grandsons. They adored their Nana and countless hours were spent together. Belva will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Belva was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Espert Shipp, Jr.; mother, Billie Mae King; and stepfather, Eddie King.

Belva is survived by her daughter, Jacy Guynes and husband, Charles; son, Brandon LaRoux and wife, Tiffany; grandchildren, Calib Guynes, Colby Guynes, Tanner LaRoux, Carter Guynes, Trevor LaRoux, and Trace LaRoux; sisters, Rebecca "Becky" Kemp and Edilyn Smith and husband Tony, her best friend and 2nd mother, Marjorie Carter; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday March 25th at 2:00pm, at the Snyder Cemetery in Snyder, Texas under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home. A family gathering to celebrate her will follow the services.

Family ask that donations be made to the Parker County Meals on Wheels (https://www.pccoa.org/) or to the Manna Storehouse (https://www.mannastorehouse.org/donations)
