Obituary for Alfonso Federico Soliz

Alfonso Federico “Fred” Soliz, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, September 1st , 2021.

Rosary will be held at Miller Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, September 7th at 6:30 p.m. A private Funeral Mass for family and close friends is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday September 8th at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Arrangements are under the care of Miller Family Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan, TX.

Mr. Soliz was born on July 25th, 1945, in Rotan, Texas to Augustine and Maria (Medrano) Soliz. His first marriage was to San Juanita Garcia. He later remarried to Olga Vasquez on December 12th , 1998. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. He was a loving family man who always put his family first. He had a passion for farming cotton and enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, from morning coffee with his fellow local farmers at Handi Mart to tending his garden. He began his cotton farming career at the young age of 10. In addition to farming, he was a career Gin Operator who travelled from Snyder to various locations in Texas, Louisiana and North Carolina. Mr. Soliz was an Army Veteran and a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years.

He is survived by Wife, Olga Vasquez of Snyder, TX; 2 Sons, Jaime Soliz of Big Spring, TX, Louis Soliz and wife Erica Soliz of Snyder, TX; 3 Daughters, Lisa Castillo and husband Zeke Castillo of Ozona, Myra Tavarez of Puerto Rico and Erika Tavarez of Snyder, TX; 9 Grandchildren; Ruben Castillo and wife Gabby of Colorado City, TX; Ysabel Soliz of San Angelo, TX; Jessie Chairez of Midland, TX; Tristan Soliz of Snyder, TX, Ehren Soliz of Big Spring, TX; Esmerelda Castillo of San Angelo, TX; Jazmin Soliz of Snyder, TX; Esperanza Castillo and Zeke Castillo Jr. of Ozona, TX.; Andrea Astacio of Puerto Rico; and one great grandchild. 6 Brothers, 5 Sisters, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Augustine and Maria Soliz, a baby brother, sisters Molly Valvarde, Frances Lopez, Clita Herrera and granddaughter Elyssa Castillo.

Family is requesting that mask or face covering be used at the Rosary, Funeral Mass and Graveside.
